Xenophobia

GLOSSARY

A form of attitudinal, affective and behavioural prejudice toward immigrants and those perceived as foreign. Recent definitions of the term suggest that the fear of foreigners (a central element of xenophobia) is linked with ethnocentrism – the attitude that one’s own group or culture is superior to others.
